You Know Media is proud to announce our partnership with Blizzard and ESL to enhance their StarCraft 2 World Championship eSports Series (WSC). This partnership is part of a global first initiative, with McDonald’s becoming the first commercial partner of this series.

StarCraft is Blizzard’s longest-running eSports property, which commands a huge domestic and international audience as the game that began the rise of eSports. WCS is Blizzard’s professional eSports series that pulls together the best of the best from around the world to battle it out in 4 tournaments a year. This partnership will now give Australian players a platform to compete on the global level.

For the eSports genre, this partnership creates a host of opportunities for both players and spectators and how they interact with the sport.

With You Know Media’s support, the WCS tournament will now gain huge local and global coverage thanks to our 3 million user footprint, deliver audiences professional live tournaments hosted by ESL, whilst giving Australian champions a platform to compete on the international level with the resources they need.

The partnership was engineered by You Know Media, who represents the largest portfolio of gaming sites from around the world (Amazon, Gamer Network, ESL) and have become a leader in the gaming and eSports space with a proven successful history in connecting brands to gaming publishers (Coca-Cola and EA, 2014).

Ryan Cunningham, CEO of You Know Media “Australian eSports players and audiences have been crying out for support to compete on the international and professional level. We tapped into our partnerships with the biggest eSports brands in the world, Blizzard and ESL, to create a truly unique opportunity that uses the strengths of each partner to bring something amazing to life.”

“It’s a big step to support this growing sport and its huge local audience, which is hungry for brands to help take them to the next level. Credit should go to Blizzard who recognized the potential in a new partnership like this which grows the category and challenges how brand sponsorships can enhance and grow sports.

The partnership will deliver two live tournaments at ESL’s Sydney studio, the first on the 24th of June. The series will run through to November, with the winners of each send internationally to compete against the winners of other countries.
